Naples & Pompei
Leaving Rome towards Naples, on halfway we will have an amazing view of the Abbey of Montecassino.
Upon arrival in Naples a 30’ stop in the historical center where you will be able to admire Piazza del Municipio, Umberto Gallery, San Carlo Theatre, Piazza del Plebiscito and the Royal Palace. Proceed to Pompeii.
After the lunch in typical restaurant, we will visit the excavations. 19 centuries ago during the summer of 79 a.C., Vesuvius suddenly re-erupted completely destroying Pompeii and Herculanum . Its ashes, gasses and hot clouds claimed numerous lives but at the same time preserved the existing environment and a way of life typical of the ancient Roman society at its heigh. The layers of ashes preserved intact people and everyday items, food and domestic animals, all remained steady and ridde until the first half of the 18th century when digging slowly and regulary until the discovery of temples, theatres, homes to made a city completely return to the light
